Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 October 2026 · Applies to the Zikr Break website
(zikrbreak.com) and the Zikr Break Android app
(com.zikrbreak.app).
1. What stays on your device
All of your personal content is stored locally, in your browser's storage on the web and in the app's private storage on Android. It is never uploaded, and we have no way to read it:
- Your name, if you enter one, and your onboarding answers
- Prayer log, prayer times you set, and prayer/qada history
- Daily checklist and tasks
- Journal entries, mood logs and nightly reflections
- Tasbih/zikr counts, streaks, XP, levels and badges
- Reminder settings — intensity, quiet hours, categories, tone, language, theme
- Focus, Peace mode and Reverse Scroll usage counters
- Your date of birth, if you choose to use the Life Clock
- Umrah guide progress and counts, and your Haram checklists and saved points
- Your last known location, if you use the Qibla finder — kept so it can still point the way with no connection
Location, camera and motion sensors
These are used only when you open the feature that needs them, and only on your device:
- Location — to work out the direction of the Qibla and your distance to the Ka'bah, and, if you switch on automatic counting in the Umrah guide, to follow your Tawaf rounds and Sa'i trips. It is never uploaded, logged or shared. You can decline and pick your city from a list instead.
- Camera — only for the Qibla finder's live view, which draws the Qibla marker over what your camera sees. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent.
- Compass and motion sensors — for the Qibla compass and for counting Umrah rounds. These need no permission and are read on the device only.
On Android, cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are switched off, so this data is not copied to Google Drive either. To move it to a new phone, use Profile → Backup & Restore, which writes a JSON file you control.
2. What is sent, and to whom
The site and the app use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. These are cookieless and are used only to understand which features people use and whether the app is fast. Vercel processes this on our behalf as a service provider.
| Collected | Example | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous interaction events | “a reminder in the gratitude category fired”, “a badge was earned”, “a prayer was logged”, “a backup was downloaded” | To know which features are worth keeping and improving |
| Performance metrics | Page load speed, layout stability, responsiveness (LCP, CLS, INP, FCP, TTFB) | To find and fix slow or broken screens |
| Coarse technical context | Page visited, referrer, country, operating system, browser, device type | Standard aggregate web statistics |
Never sent: your name, journal or reflection contents, mood notes, task titles, date of birth, prayer times, your location, anything from the camera, or any account or contact details — the app has none. There is no advertising SDK, no cross-app tracking, no data broker, and nothing is sold.
Events are aggregated. We cannot single you out from them, and we do not attempt to.
Turning analytics off
There is currently no in-app toggle. You can block it at the network level, and the app will keep working normally — analytics failure is silent and never blocks a feature.
3. Permissions the Android app asks for
| Permission | What it is for |
|---|---|
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Showing your reminders. Asked for only when you first engage with reminders, never on first launch. Decline and the app still works. |
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM | Delivering prayer reminders at the exact time you set. Without it the app falls back to approximate timing. |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | Restoring your reminder schedule after you restart your phone. Android deletes all alarms on reboot. |
VIBRATE | Notification vibration. |
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Loading the app and its updates. Reminders themselves work with no connection. |
ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION, ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION | The Qibla direction, and automatic Tawaf / Sa'i counting in the Umrah guide. Asked for only when you open those features; used on the device and never sent. Approximate location is enough for the Qibla. |
CAMERA | The Qibla finder's live camera view. Asked for only when you switch to it; nothing is recorded or sent. |
The app asks for no microphone, contacts, storage, phone or calendar access, never uses location in the background, and runs no background service.
4. Children
Zikr Break is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. It contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no user-to-user communication and no user-generated public content.
5. Your rights
Because your personal data never reaches us, there is nothing for us to hand over, correct or delete on your behalf — you already hold all of it. You can:
- Export everything from Profile → Backup & Restore
- Erase everything by clearing site data (web) or uninstalling / clearing app storage (Android). This is immediate and irreversible.
For the anonymous analytics described in section 2, see Vercel's privacy policy.
6. Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top will change and the update will be noted in the app's release notes.
